“We are a designer and manufacturer of test lead sets supplied with many well-known brands of test meters, as well as a supplier of popular brands of after-market test lead sets,” said company general manager John Hall. “We are frequently asked for one-off or low-volume special cable reels which are not economic to manufacture. Allowing end users to buy the cable reel empty and assemble themselves is an elegant solution to these enquiries.”

Overall dimensions of the reel are 240 x 130 x 176mm. It is made from ABS and assembly is a ‘snap and screw’ process. For product marking or branding, there is a recess on both sides of the handle. Maximum capacity is approximately 50m of 4mm diameter cable – part CIH299435, data sheet is here.

For customers who can cope with the necessary minimum order quantity, factory loaded custom versions can include fibre-optic, audio and coax cables – with their associated connectors, and custom branding and labelling

Standard loads includes test leads predominately used with PAT testers, or by electrical contractors, or test and repair houses. These have PVC or silicone cable with two layers of insulation, designed so that the white under-layer becomes visible if the outer becomes damaged.

“Cliff takes great care in ensuring their standard test lead products are rated for all aspects of IEC61010, particularly with regard to voltage and current ratings, creepage distance, cable specification and insulation. All products are marked with CAT ratings where required,” according to the firm, which makes own-brand cables as well as cables for OEMs in its Surrey UK factory, as well as at as its Chinese factory – both are  ISO9001:2008 certified.
